Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8613, an AS-24M built by the American Locomotive Company in August of 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-39).

Wye Switches. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 3 July 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #8613 and #8606. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company in 1956 and are rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8613 is an AS-24M, but #8606 is an APS-24MS. These two locomotives are pushing a 77-car freight train up the New Portage Branch Line to Gallitzin and points West. The caboose is N-8 #478214. The PRR's WYE Tower is visible in the distance.

Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #8613 and #8657. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company. #8613 is an AS-24M built in 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. #8657 is an AS-18AM built in 1957 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. They are pulling one hopper car and an N-5 caboose up the Alleghenies to Gallitzin and points West.
