Title:
PRR 1487, L-1S, 1947
Description:
AHC. Here is a photo by Bruce D. Fales that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 20 November 1947. It was published originally in Mike Schaffer & Brian Solomon's (1997) book entitled "Pennsylvania Railroad," page 22. Photo Caption: "The engine crew of this Class L 2-8-2 appear to be as interested in the group of photographers as the photographers are in capturing the crew's engine, the 1487, slugging through Horseshoe Curve on November 20, 1947." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1487, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during January of 1917 and retired in October of 1956.
