Description:
Here is page 13 of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Top Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2760, the E-29 (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built by the American Locomotive Company during 1905 and retired in February of 1917. Bottom Photo: Shown here is PRR engine #3395, the K-29 (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the American Locomotive Company as a K-29 in October of 1911, rebuilt in Juniata as a K-29S in August of 1913, and retired in September of 1929. Both photos taken about 1905.

Description:
Westing. Here is a photo that was published originally in Fred Westing's 1974 book entitled "Pennsy Steam And Semaphores," page 63. Partial Caption: "Alco's Cole compound No. 2760 built for the road east of Pittsburgh on the point of a westbound triple-header rounding the Horse Shoe Curve." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2760, the E-29 (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built by the American Locomotive Company during 1905 and retired in February of 1917 after just 12 years of experimental service.
