Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 21 April 1962. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5907, a BS-6 switcher built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1942, rated at 660 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964 after 22 years of faithful service. This is one of the very first diesel-electric locomotives ever purchased by the PRR! ("LouisFols"; #9 of 37) |
